Media Release - Strategic Plan launch a landmark day for TAFE

TAFE NSW staff in the New England and North West region have joined with Managing Director Jon Black today in launching the organisation’s new Strategic Plan.


Mr Black said TAFE NSW was embarking on exciting and unprecedented change across NSW with the Plan identifying an ambitious path forward that will benefit students.


“The TAFE NSW Strategic Plan 2016-22 is a future-focused and customer-centric plan with a refreshed vision, purpose and core values to ensure we remain the state’s leading education and training provider in the VET sector,” Mr Black said.

Mr Black said the Strategic Plan 2016-22 identified four goals, including:

  • Making NSW’s future workforce job ready;

  • Strengthening communities across NSW;

  • Creating a strong and innovative business with a bright future; and

  • Coming together as a proud, passionate and customer-focused team.


TAFE New England Institute Director, Peter Heilbuth, said the most pleasing aspect of the Strategic Plan for him was the fact the Plan identified the need for TAFE NSW to remain an important part of local communities.

“The plan seeks to leverage the immense potential in our organisation to make a positive and widespread impact on the lives of individuals in the New England and North West region and communities throughout NSW.

“TAFE NSW will focus on offering flexible, responsive training that better meets the needs, and expectations of students and industry across NSW.

“TAFE NSW is focused on the communities we are part of, and we will ensure equity of access to training for school leavers, young people at risk, unemployed, students in rural, regional and remote areas, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and learners with a disability.”
