Students embark on enrolled nursing career
Hospitals and care facilities
throughout the New England and North West welcomed the news that 23 students
have completed the Diploma in Enrolled Nursing at the TAFE New England Gunnedah
campus and will graduate on Thursday 29 October.
The graduation ceremony will take
place at the Gunnedah Bowling Club at 3.00pm on Thursday. The ceremony will be
attended by Gunnedah Shire Council Deputy Mayor, Gae Swain, and representatives
from Hunter New England Health and TAFE New England.
Community Health and Services
Industries Head Teacher, Jane Chamberlain, said “This is great news for local
health care providers as we pride ourselves on being able to deliver the best
training in state of the art facilities to our students and their future
employees” Ms Chamberlain said.
Our well established health industry
networks ensures that our students develop the skills and knowledge that are
required by employers, and are job ready when they enter the workplace”, Ms
Chamberlain said.
The intensive 18 month course combines
block attendance using the state of the art facilities at the Gunnedah campus,
online learning and 400 hours of clinical placement within local hospitals. The
students will balance work, study and their personal lives to achieve their
dream of becoming an enrolled nurse.
The graduating students are now
eligible for enrolled nurse registration and the majority have already secured
employment as enrolled nurse practitioners with Hunter New England Area Health
Service.
