Media Release TNE kicks off 2016 with O-Week Celebrations
The verandah of the student hub at the Tamworth campus will be transformed into a hive of activity next week as TAFE New England kicks off its second annual ‘O Week’ celebrations.
TAFE New England will showcase its services for students and the community over the course of three fun-filled days commencing on Tuesday 16 February through to Thursday 19 February from 11.00am to 2.00pm each day. Current students and visitors to the campus will enjoy interactive activities, campus tours, music, games and free refreshments each day.
TAFE New England Institute Director, Peter Heilbuth, said “We are constantly thinking of innovative ways to engage with our students and offer them more than just a classroom”.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for students to interact with one another, meet staff and access a huge range of services available at TAFE New England”, Mr Heilbuth added.
The event will take place again this year after the success of the inaugural event in 2015.
Local radio identity, Josh Melbourne, will go “Back to TAFE” this year and will be on campus on Tuesday 16 February visiting the facilities and chatting with teachers live on 92.9 in an attempt to make a decision about which course, from the 200 plus courses available, he might study this year.
Teachers and customer support staff will be on hand to meet with the public, answer provide information about courses and answer questions. Support staff are continuing to take enrolments from ‘last-minute’ decision-makers, along with providing the perfect opportunity for current secondary students to investigate TVET subjects, or school leavers to consider their tertiary study options for 2017.
The event is open to students, staff and the community, and TAFE New England encourages everyone to visit the campus during O-Week to experience everything on offer at the Tamworth campus.
