Professionals take next career steps with TAFE New England
Times are changing, and statistics show that most workplaces and industries are more changeable and fluid than ever before. Most people have more than one ‘career’ throughout their professional lives, and for some, it can be valuable to look for a way to put industry knowledge gathered over the course of a career to better, or more rewarding use.
Enter TAFE New England! The TAFE New England Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is an ideal way to put knowledge and qualifications you already have to good use. One such student is Performance and Management Accountant Nicole Mattheus, who says she took the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and did not look back.
‘I was given the opportunity to do the course as career development. My aim was to get a better understanding of what we deliver as a business and then in general to improve my ability to pass on knowledge to others within the organisation, Ms Mattheus said.
I chose TNE because I knew they had a reputation for quality, and the TAFE brand is well-recognised and respected both nationally and internationally. To be honest, I wouldn’t have considered the course if it didn’t come up as career development – but it was a great experience.
‘While I’m not employed as a teacher or trainer, I use the concepts and knowledge gained whenever I prepare and deliver presentations or training sessions in my current role,’ Ms Mattheus said.
Head Teacher for Business and Creative Industries Tracey Ellicott says the course is structured to support students at any stage of life.
‘The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is delivered through a combination of flexible delivery and in class. The units are ordered to ensure potentially complicated learning elements are covered face to face, while other areas can be completed online, at the student’s own pace, but within a guided timeframe.
‘Students have often commented on how much they enjoyed the face to face sessions, as they facilitate group learning and provide an opportunity to build relationships with other students and the teaching staff,’ Ms Ellicott said.
Our commitment is to ensuring we support students by being prompt in answering queries and marking assessments, accommodating personal circumstances, and ensuring students are aware of the career pathways available to them,’ Ms Ellicott said.
The Certificate IV in training and Assessment can lead to opportunities to work as a workplace trainer, transition into workforce development, further enhance your presentation skills, or even become a certified trainer and assessor at TAFE or another registered training organisation.
