Media Release - Minister opens new TAFE facility at Tamworth

Vocational education and training students in New England will benefit from an $11.3 million upgrade to the TAFE facilities in Tamworth.

Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson and Minister for Regional Development, Skills and Small Business John Barilaro officially opened the new and renovated campus facilities today.

“These major upgrades will provide students in Tamworth and surrounds with access to industry standard interactive learning facilities for courses in plumbing, childcare and nursing,” Mr Anderson said.

“These new facilities extend the productive industry partnerships that are at the heart of TAFE New England’s quality vocational education experience.

“A comprehensive student administration facility has also been constructed on the campus, providing students and the wider community with a hub for enrolment and support services such as counselling and careers advice.

“Opening these facilities is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the state-of-the-art equipment and training that students are now able to access.”

The new additions to the TAFE New England Campus are designed to improve the student experience with practical hands-on and simulated learning.

“These facilities meet modern industry standards and ensure that students gain the skills and knowledge they need to be workplace-ready at the completion of their course,” Mr Barilaro said.

“The upgrades at the TAFE New England Tamworth campus reflects our commitment to better meeting students’ needs by providing quality and accessible training to meet industry demand and prepare a workforce for the future.

“The NSW Government is committed to giving TAFE students a flexible and quality learning experience and preparing them for a future job and a career.”
