This unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

This unit meets the general construction induction training requirements of:
• Part 1.1 Definitions and Part 6.5 of the Model Work Health and Safety Regulations
• Division 11 of Part 3 of the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations 1996 for Western Australia
• Division 3 of Part 5.1 of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2007 for Victoria.

The following items of personal protective equipment (PPE) will be available to participants during assessment activities:
• Eye protection
• Hearing protection
• Hard hat
• High visibility retro reflective vest.

Eye and Hearing Protection equipment remains the property of the participant on completion of the course.

Entry Requirements

*The minimum age to complete this course is fourteen (14) years of age.
* It is extremely important that participants provide original documents of identity that add up to 100 points. A detailed list of the POI
requirements will be made available to the participant upon registration into the course. Participants are required to produce evidence of
have a NSW residential address. Within these documents the participant must be able to show photo, date of birth, signature and current address.
*If a VERBAL Assessment is required this must be specified at the time of registration. Verbal assessments will incur an additional hourly charge
of $180.00 per hour.
*Failure to provide Proof Of Identity on the day of the course will incur an additional fee of $250 through an RPL process should you wish to
